Frequently asked questions
Q. Is my child’s face recorded or saved?By default, no — the camera image is never displayed, saved, or sent. Only expression values are used, on the device. Photos capture only the cartoon animal. Only if you turn on the optional "real face in replay" feature (off by default; consent dialog plus a grown-up check) does a real face go into replay videos, and those stay on this device — the app never uploads them. You can turn it off at any time.
Q. Why does it need the microphone?Only so your voice can be part of a video you record in Mirror mode. It is on only while recording, and the audio goes only into that video file. Deny the permission and recordings are silent.
Q. Where are replay videos saved?Tapping save opens the iOS share sheet — choose "Save Video" to put it in your Photos. The app never saves or uploads anything by itself.
Q. Face tracking isn’t working.① Check Settings → Be The Animal → Camera. ② Play in good light with your whole face visible. ③ Use the 🎯 button in the mirror to recalibrate. On devices without face tracking (pre-A11), Touch Puppet mode keeps every feature available.
Q. The wink game is too hard.If a child can’t wink yet, covering one eye with a hand is recognised too. It comes quickly with practice.
Q. Do the seasonal outfits cost extra?No. Christmas, Halloween, Harvest Moon and Lunar New Year packs are all included. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
Q. My progress disappeared.Progress is stored on the device only. Deleting the app deletes stars and stickers with it.
Q. Game Center leaderboards aren’t showing.Check that you are signed in under Settings → Game Center. Every game is playable without it.
